Whose Land 2.1

Whose Land is a web-based application that utilizes GIS technology to aid users in identifying Indigenous Nations, territories, and Indigenous communities throughout Canada. The platform serves as a resource for understanding the lands where one's home or business is situated, accessing information for a thoughtful land acknowledgment, and exploring the historical treaties and agreements established across the country.

Moreover, the application offers a selection of educational videos designed to provide users with a deeper insight into the significance of land acknowledgments and the Indigenous perspective on their sacred connection to the land.

Developed in collaboration between Canadian Roots Exchange, TakingITGlobal, and Bold Realities, the Whose Land app features six distinct maps showcasing Indigenous territories, Treaties, as well as First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.

As an ongoing initiative, each community's location on the app will feature a dedicated land acknowledgment video and additional information curated by the respective community. With a strong emphasis on education, this platform aims to foster meaningful conversations around reconciliation, serving as a catalyst for engaging dialogues between Indigenous and non-Indigenous individuals nationwide regarding land, territorial recognition, and land acknowledgment.
